The group in a statement expressed its displeasure at the eviction of its representative and admonished TV3 “to commence proceedings of calling her back into the competition after considerable investigations.”

“We, the undersigned people of the Western-North Region, in due regard write to state our displeasure concerning Afrah’s eviction on the 18th of September 2022. We hereby submit this petition to invoke the management of TV3 and Media General in its entirety to commence proceedings of calling her back into the competition after considerable investigations.” parts of the statement read.

Acknowledging the voting modalities of the competition, the group enumerated a number of items suggesting their representative stood a greater chance of moving on to the next step of the competition.

PETITION TO OVERTURN EVICTION VERDICT AFRAH (GMB 2022 WESTERN NORTH REPRESENTATIVE)

“We, the undersigned people of the Western-North Region, in due regard write to state our displeasure concerning Afrah’s eviction on the 18th of September 2022. We hereby submit this petition to invoke the management of TV3 and Media General in its entirety to commence proceedings of calling her back into the competition after considerable investigations.

We are minded by the open provisions of the competition, stating clearly that;

(I) Votes make up a percentage of 60

(ii)Judges’ scores make up a percentage of 40

On the 93rd minute (at exactly 21:33 GMT) of the 10th episode (Cultural Swap) when the last contestant had just finished performing, the Host (Miss Anita Akua Akuffo) clearly stated that viewers had 5 more minutes to vote for their favourites. Presumably, voting closed on the 98th minute which was at 21:38 GMT. We awfully state that our representative (Afrah) was the 4th contestant on the open voting app with 31,000 votes.

Citing a post on Instagram by Onua TV, a subsidiary of Media General, with the caption “…. although she gave a splendid performance as a hunter from the Oti Region, she emerged last on the voting sheet”, we believe that your outfit is finding untrue reasons to justify an unfair action taken against our representative and that to us is very unfortunate.

Owing to the rules of the competition and the Judges’ usual comments about consistency, we the concerned citizens of our noble region deem it highly important for a peremptory reply to the eviction as our representative has not been treated fairly.

For 10 weeks, she has consistently exhibited grace and magnificence in her performances which accorded her;

(I) Four times ‘Star Performer’ nominations

(ii) One-time ‘Most Eloquent’ nomination

(iii) Six times ‘Best Costume’ nominations (Four won)

It is also our estimation that the Western North Region since its inception has been painfully discriminated against as far as Ghana’s Most Beautiful is concerned. Our contestants are usually evicted on unfair grounds, subjecting them and the regional populace to anguish, and it does not seem to be ending.

We, by this petition, call on the management of Media General to investigate this issue and call Afrah back into the competition, or we affirm a dissociation from Ghana’s Most Beautiful Competition.

We respectfully submit this for your attention and look forward to a favourable response.

Thank you.”

On Monday, September 19, 2022, the Traditional Council of the Western North registered its displeasure with TV3, organizers of Ghana’s Most Beautiful over the eviction of its representative Justina Yaa Afrah Donkor.

They described her eviction as a “total cheat and blackmail”.
