Microblogging site Twitter is cracking the whip on fake, locked and dead twitter accounts on its platform.
The action which was earlier announced by Twitter has caused the decline in numbers of a number of celebrities all over the world.
One of the many who was shocked by the large decrease in following is Ghanaian comedian Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng well known as Funny Face.
Surprised at the loss of over 10,000 followers in a few minutes, the comedian who is also referred to as the Children’s president in a tweet asked;

Funny Face is not the only Ghanaian celebrity to have lost a number of followers.
Rappers Sarkodie, Paedae, D Black and many others have also lost a considerable number followers but are yet to pass comments on them.
Twitter earlier announced the exercise will largely affected accounts with large following.
“We are committed to building trust and encouraging healthy conversation on Twitter. Follower counts should be meaningful and accurate. We are removing locked accounts from follower counts.
What are locked accounts? When we see sudden changes in behavior, we lock accounts. We reach out to the owners of the accounts and unless they validate the account and reset their passwords, we keep them locked with no ability to log in.
What does this mean for your follower count? Most people will see a change of four followers or fewer; others with larger follower counts may experience a more significant drop.”

Have you lost followers yet? Perhaps you’ve not checked yet.
Well, I lost about 500 followers in the clean up exercise by Twitter.
