Ghana Culture Forum: Ashanti Regional Chapter Inaugurated, Interim Executives Unveiled
The Ashanti Regional Chapter of the Ghana Culture Forum, a membership-based civil society consultative and advocacy network of cultural practitioners, activists and organizations has been inaugurated.
Speaking at the inauguration, Agya Koo Nimo, Barima Asomadu and other speakers espoused the need for such a body and the need to protect what we have as a people.
Present at the inauguration were Agya Koo Nimo, Prof. Kofi Abraham, Baffour Asabre Kogyawoasuo Ababio, Barima Asomadu Sakyi (Director, Culture For National Culture), Nana Yaw Akuoko (Otumfuo Asinhene) and members of various associations from the Northern Sector of the country.
The association also announced an interim executive to help steer affairs in the region.
These include Mr James Aboagye, President of the Film Producers Association of Ghana, Mrs Augustine Addison, Chairperson of the Musicians Union of Ghana Ashanti Region and others.
There are about 88 member associations under the Ghana Culture Forum.

The Ghana Culture Forum was proposed and initiated at the Consultative Forum on the ‘Power of culture in development” organized by UNESCO and held at the African Royal Beach Hotel, Accra on April 28, 2011.
