The Eggstra-O campaign, a joint endeavour led by the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) and the Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat (GNECS) and executed by The Little Cow Consulting Ltd, is poised to achieve new heights in promoting egg nutrition in Ghana.
Under the resonant tagline, “Eat an egg today: Eggstra-O nutrition for all,” phase 2 of the campaign was launched in June 2023. Its primary objective remains to encourage the widespread consumption of eggs among Ghanaians by providing essential nutrition education, with a vision to create a lasting, positive impact on the country’s poultry sector.
The 2023 Eggstra-O campaign is geared up to extend its influence even further. The campaign has so far executed activities such as the screening of the educational movie “The Eggciting Festival” in both English and Twi on Joy Prime and Adom TV; this garnered a combined viewership of over 2 million. The momentum continued with the successful Eggnite activations in the Bono Region, where the team showcased the movie, educated and treated over 350 people to delicious egg dishes.
Looking ahead, the campaign is embarking on a series of upcoming activities in various regions. In the Ashanti Region, the team has planned a school visit on August 16, 2023, to educate students about the nutritional benefits of consuming eggs. There will also be an Eggnite activation on two dates: Friday, 18th, August 2023, at Juaben Methodist Church in Juaben, and Saturday, 19th August 2023, at the Municipal Assembly conference hall in Ejisu.
The campaign train will ride on to the Northern Region, in September for both Eggnite activations and school visits. Then finally return to the Greater Accra Region where the highly anticipated Eggstra-O Food Invasion festival, in collaboration with ShaQ Express, is scheduled to take place on the 14th of October 2023 at Alliance Francaise. The festival promises to be an exhilarating affair, featuring a range of fun-filled activities, including good music, mouthwatering egg dishes, games, karaoke, and much more.
