Popularly called “Agyekum” by industry players and closed friends, one might think the versatile and influential DJ has refused to use his original name but far from that. Born to Mr and Mrs Afriyie, as the last among three children, Reuben Afriyie as he is officially known started his primary education at Naggies, continued to Ridge International and Martyrs for his Junior High School education all in Kumasi.

Starting his senior secondary education at Toase Senior Secondary School, he had to complete at Osei Tutu Secondary. He then continued later to study Information Technology at CEEDEP.
Despite growing up as a God fearing calm guy with the aim to becoming a pastor or a banker, DJ Reuben found solace and happiness in radio presenting, an innate thing he later discovered as a passion and God given talent. Although he has never attended any school of journalism, his God given talent has taken him through stations like Invisible Fm, Solid Fm, Ghana Beats Radio and Ghana Voice Radio (both online radio)

Currently with Luv FM, a member of the Multimedia Broadcasting Limited, DJ Reuben describes the few years in the industry as “fun fun throughout”. DJ Reuben in an interview with www.nydjlive.com says,
I aim at being on top of the world and will surely be through God who strengthens me, “Onyame ne yen boafo” (God is my help)
DJ Reuben is currently a student of the Christian Service University in Kumasi studying Business Administration.
Catch him most often on Luv fm 99.5Mhz in Kumasi all week and at the Drive Night Club on weekends but whenever you see him, don’t hesitate to shout “DJ Reuben” as he often says, “If you love what I do, call me DJ Reuben” better still call him “Agyekum”
