The Ghanaian music industry is mourning after the reported death of renowned Highlife musician Dada Kwaku Duah, popularly known as Dada KD.
He passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025.
The cause of his death is immediately unknown.
Tributes have poured in from fellow musicians and fans alike. Gospel artist Broda Sammy and producer Kwame Mickey expressed their grief on social media, sharing memories and photos with the late singer.
Dada KD was known not only for his music. He was also a critic of the Ghanaian music industry. In a recent interview, he voiced concerns about the industry’s challenges and the lack of support for artists.
Dada KD began his musical journey as a church instrumentalist at the age of 15.
He gained prominence with his debut album, “Honey Love”, and achieved international recognition with subsequent albums like “Adi Nye Wo'” and “Eden Na Megyee”.
Known for his soulful love songs, he was honoured as Best Male Vocal Artist at the Ghana Music Awards in Britain in 2004.
As the nation grapples with this loss, plans for memorial services are expected to be announced by his family in the coming days. Dada KD’s legacy as a pillar of Highlife music will undoubtedly endure.
