Breaking The Rules! Young Ghanaian Actor Kofi Koomson Wins At The Atlanta Black Theatre Festival

A young Ghanaian actor and undergraduate student of the University of Education Winneba, Kofi Koomson has won the 2022 Dr Doris Derby Collegiate Monologue Competition.

Opened to only persons from the United States and Canada, Kofi Koomson’s case was quite exceptional as organizers could not overlook the submission of the only African student to compete.

Unlike the other competitors who were required to be present to compete in front of theatre/tv/film actors, producers and directors during the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival Creative Arts Conference, Kofi Koomson was allowed to compete virtually.

He beat competition from 5 others, emerging winner of the ultimate prize of a cash prize of $500.

The 11th Annual Atlanta Black Theatre Festival took place from September 1 to September 4, 2022.
