A new Queen has been crowned for the Best International Flow at the BET Hip Hop Awards 2021.
British-Nigerian rapper Simbiatu “Simbi” Abisola Abiola Ajikawo better known by her stage name Little Simz beat Ladipoe (Nigeria), Nasty C (South Africa), Xamã (Brazil), Laylow (France), Gazo (France), and Dave (UK) to win the covetous award.
The win makes her the first female to win in the category since its introduction in 2019.
The Best International Flow category was created in 2019 with nominees including Falz (Nigeria), Ghetts (U.K.), Kalash (France), Lil Simz (U.K.), Nasty C (South Africa), Tory Lanez (Canada) and the eventual winner Sarkodie (Ghana).
In 2020, British rapper, singer and songwriter with Ghanaian background Stormzy beat competition from Meryl (France), Kaaris (France), Nasty C (South Africa), Khaligraph Jones (Kenya), Stormzy (U.K.), Ms Banks (U.K.) and Djonga (Brazil) to be crowned the winner.
