Ashtown Citizens Club Donates To BECE Candidates In ‘The Hope Initiative’

Students writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in various basic schools in Ashtown, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana have benefited from The Hope Initiative by the Ashtown Citizens Club.

The students from beneficiary schools including St. Joseph’s Experimental JHS, St. Anne’s JHS, St. Anne’s Int’l JHS, Konadu Yiadom JHS, Afia Kobi JHS, K.O Methodist A JHS, K.O Methodist B JHS, and Apostolic Int’l JHS received educational items including Mathematical Sets, Exercise Books, Pens, Pencils, Erasers, Sharpeners, long rulers etc.

Speaking at the presentation, the founder and President of the Ashtown Citizens Club, Mr Christopher Owusu, CEO of Saintcristos Bespoke explained the motive behind the donation.

“Ashtown Citizens Club is made up of people from all over the world who have their roots tied to Ashtown. We do believe national development should not only be the sole responsibility of the government so we identified how best we could help these young ones in a community that made us who we are today also excel. We are here to encourage them and urge them to succeed and also to donate these items that would help them in their exams” he said.

Also present at the presentation was Actor’s Guild President and award-winning Ghanaian actor and Bill Asamoah. He also encouraged and advised the students to stay disciplined and focus on their future.

The donation was made possible with support from individuals including Dr Osei Kwame Despite, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Berndt Luther Owusu, Samuel Osei Kuffour, Nana Krobiah Owusu, Akwasi Addai Toro, Nana Kwame Ashina, Paa Paul, Oheneba Kwadwo Sumankwa, Mr Yaw Owusu Fagus, Ohemaa Akua and other members of the club.
