Asem Frowns At Ghanacelebrities; I’m Not Giving My Album Out For Free
Award winning Ghanaian hiplife musician Nana Wiafe Asante Mensah popularly known as Asem has described a recent publication by Ghanacelebrities.com that sought to imply that the musician’s latest album Tough Times Don’t Last (TTDL) which was released late last year was being given out for free by the artist and his management due to lack of sales as “malicious mischief”.
In an interview with www.nydjlive.com, Asem disclosed he found the publication interesting, funny and somehow malicious. He denied giving his “investment” out for free and stated the album was only shared amongst his media contacts which the said website was a part.
“If not for malicious mischief, what else could this be? My team only shared a private link through an email blast with all our media contacts which I know you are a part for reviews just as we’ve done with all my single releases and not for distribution. If I really wanted to give the entire album for free, why wouldn’t I tweet the link then because I have several followers who would have loved to have access to it. What prevented the outfit from contacting us for verification before publishing such falsehood”
The Give Me Blow and Bye Bye hit maker registered his displeasure at the said publication and frowned at what he termed “unprofessional behaviour” by the website to openly publish the private link his team shared among their media contacts. He however advised the media not to throw away the core and ethics of the profession to the dogs.
Asem is a journalist by training and a musician by trade. He graduated from the Ghana Institute of Journalism in 2009.
