Another One – Abraham Attah wins Black Film Critics Circle’s Rising Star Award

Ghanaian actor Abraham Attah is still on the winning ways as he has won the Black Film Critics Circle’s Rising Star award in the US for his role in Beasts of No Nation.

The critics called his debut in Beasts of No Nation as an African child soldier, “one of the strongest and most phenomenal we have ever seen” and said he had “a very bright future ahead of him”.

This comes as the second after the release of the much publicized movie. In September 2015, 14 year old Abraham Attah won Best Young Actor at Venice Film Festival For Role in ‘Beasts of No Nations’.

Rapper Ice Cube, producer of NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton, won a pioneer award for showing “artistic integrity and an unerring commitment to excellence”.

Beasts of No Nation received a Special Mention. The main prize went to American sports drama Creed.
