Ama K. Abebrese Wages War Against Unregistered Counsellor Ludterodt For Unguarded Comments About Rape Victims
Ghanaian actress Ama K. Abebrese has waged ‘war’ against popular unregistered self-professed ‘counsellor’ Luterodt for unguarded comments passed about rape victims during a discussion on Accra based Adom TV.
In a video shared by the actress, the ‘counsellor’ is heard saying “every rape victim enjoys the act”, a comment which clearly speaks of an ill-informed person.
The comment obviously did not sit well right-thinking individuals including actress Ama K. Ababrese who has been on a campaign to abolish medical examination fees for all victims of rape and sexual assault in Ghana.
She took on the counsellor and described his comments as “highly irresponsible and a very dangerous rhetoric that fuels sexual violence and rape culture.”
In a series of tweets, Ama K. Abebrese called on several bodies including media organizations, the National Communications Authority and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection of Ghana to deal with the individual.
Watch the video and check the tweets from below.
Something that any real professional counsellor and expert will discredit.
This is highly irresponsible and a very dangerous rhetoric that fuels sexual violence and rape culture. He claims he has spoken to ‘many rape victims’ and his assertions are based on that. Despicable.— Ama K Abebrese (@Ama_K_Abebrese) July 9, 2020
This perpetuates victim blaming and trivialises what rape survivors go through.
His comments are deplorable, especially at a time in Ghana, and beyond when so many people are advocating for victims of rape and sexual assault in their fight for justice.— Ama K Abebrese (@Ama_K_Abebrese) July 9, 2020
PS. I don’t know who the other gentleman in the video is, but I applaud him for countering the assertions made by that man.
Any media house that continues to give this man a platform to spew such misinformation is culpable.

The worst thing is that he is not even a certified counsellor yet these media organisation in Ghana continue to give him a platform. This has to stop.

In an update, Ama K. Abebrese revealed she had drawn the attention of the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Honourable Cynthia Morrison to the disturbing video and hoped the right attention was paid to it.
I have also spoken on the phone with Hon Cynthia Morrison, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection ( @MoGCSP_Ghana ) and brought this to her attention.
