WATCH: “African Artists Owe A Lot To The Late Lilian N. Blankson” – Sarkodie

Three-times (3) BET Award nominee and Africa’s most decorated rapper, Michael Owusu Addo well known as Sarkodie believes former BET Director Lilian N. Blankson was not given her flowers whilst alive.

In an exclusive interview on the Mid-Morning Radio Show on Y102.5FM hosted by Naa Dzama, the musician who referred to the late Lilian as ‘mummy’ posited that African artists owed her (Lilian) memory a lot.

Reacting to a question posed by NY DJ during the interview regarding Lilian, Sarkodie responded saying;

‘As you said, Lilian has played a major role in our industry, we wouldn’t have had this whole BET Best International Act if not for Lilian. She pushed, she made it an agenda to make African music be represented well at the BET. Got us a foot in and at the same time got us to receive the award on stage. She pushed for all these things to happen. African artists/Afrobeats artists owe a lot to Lilian and it’s just so sad.

It is unknown the cause of death but Sarkodie stated saying;

“As humans, we tend to be selfish (which is normal) thinking we love somebody so they shouldn’t go but we don’t think of what they might be going through. She might be at peace at this point compared to maybe whatever she went through. We don’t know the facts but let’s just say, we are sad but let’s also appreciate that people have to go for them to be okay sometimes so we pray for her soul.
