“Africa To The World” Tyla Says As She Beats Sexxy Red, Others To Win Best New Artist At 2024 BET Awards
South African music star Tyla showed up at the 2024 BET Awards picking up two (2) major awards including Best International Act and Best New Artist.
Tyla beat 9 other contenders in the Best International Act category at the 2024 BET Awards.
Tyla was the first winner named at Sunday’s 2024 BET Awards held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles in the category for Best International Act.
The “Water” hitmaker beat stiff competition from others including Asake (Africa), Aya Nakamura (France), Ayra Starr (Africa), Bk’ (Brazil), Cleo Sol (UK), Focalistic (Africa), Karol Conká (Brazil), Raye (UK), and Tiakola (France).
Tyla was also adjudged the Best New Artist beating 41, 4batz, Ayra Starr, Bossman, Dlow, Fridayy, October London and Sexyy Red.
Picking up the award, Tyla expressed her adoration for Sexyy Red and dedicated the award to Africa.
“Firstly, I love Sexxy Red, oh my gosh, I can’t. I love her so much. This is such a gift to be here. I want to dedicate this one to Africa. I want to dedicate this one to all the African superstars before me that didn’t get these opportunities that I’m getting. It’s just amazing. Africa to the World.”
