Ghanaian actor and entrepreneur Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin has high hopes for his latest movie production, A Country Called Ghana.
Released in the second quarter of the year 2024, Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin, who recently premiered the movie in Nigerian cinemas after securing a distribution deal with Silverbird Cinemas, believes the movie has great potential.
In an interview with NY DJ on Y102.5FM, Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin expressed enthusiasm about the movie, saying that it (A Country Called Ghana) possesses all the qualities that place it in the league of legendary Ghanaian movies, including the famous I Told You So.
“A country called Ghana is an extraordinary movie that will stay on the lips of people for the next 10 or 15 years, just like I Told You So. It is the movie that will replace I Told You So,” he said.
Directed by Frank Fiifi Ghabin and produced by Kwadwo Nkansah, A Country Called Ghana is a movie set in a small Ghanaian village where Kwadwo Nkansah (Lilwin) is the only literate person in the town that sees an intrusion of foreigners with the sole aim of stealing precious assets from the people.
The movie features actors from Ghana and Nigeria, including Ramsey Nuoah, Charles Awurum, Victor Osuagwu (popularly known as ‘Awilo Sharp Sharp’), Paa George, and Sweet Mimi.
On the other hand, I Told You So is a Ghanaian movie produced in 1970. The movie portrays Ghanaians and their way of life in a satirical style.
Written and directed by Egbert Adjesu, the movie had amazing actors and actresses, including Bob Cole, Margaret Quainoo (Araba Stamp), Kweku Cranston (Osuo Abrobor) as Akonta, Billy Nuamah as Messenger, Comfort Mensah as Grace, P.J. Larbi as Plainclothes Man, K.M. Hammond as Odikro, Baba Buckle as Rosina, J. K. Deheer as Jones, Sarah Amissah as Serwah, Francis Appiah as Opanin Bentum, and C.K. Barnes as Tamewu.
