Based at Munich Messe, Adele will perform in an open-air environment that has been exclusively created for these special shows.
The bespoke arena will feature a combination of seated grandstands and standing areas with a capacity of 80,000 people per night. “A one-off, bespoke pop-up stadium designed around whatever show I want to put on?” Adele noted on her Instagram.
She went on to say “I couldn’t think of a more wonderful way to spend my summer.” These exclusive European dates mark the first time Adele has played mainland Europe since 2016.
“So a few months ago I got a call about a summer run of shows. I’ve been content as anything with my shows in London’s Hyde Park and my residency in Vegas, so I hadn’t had any other plans. Initially a four-day event, an unprecedented demand for the event has risen leading to a final decision to run the event for 10 days.
The venue’s stage setup will feature a gigantic screen to make sure all guests get a good view. At 220 meters long, organizers are even hoping to break the record for the world’s biggest outdoor screen.
While costs for the building haven’t been made public, a city spokesperson said the event is expected to generate over €500 million in revenue for the Bavarian capital.
The events will run on 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 14th, 16th, 23rd, 24th, 30th and 31st of August 2024.
Renderings of the stadium show a clamshell-shaped design picked out with bright bordering, plus a semi-circular walkway to a B-stage. It helps replicate – at a grander scale – the type of theatre stage setup that Adele has been using in Las Vegas. She has been performing her Weekends With Adele concert residency since November 2022 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
