One of Ghana’s oldest publication houses, Adwinsa Publications Ghana Limited, has successfully launched its new educational book ‘Abrefi’s Red Letter Day’, a book that centers on adolescent reproductive health.

The launch which took place at the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi had in attendance Lady Julia, wife of His Royal Highness Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the director of the Girl-Child Unit of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Speaking at the launch, Lady Julia explained the need to pay attention to the girl child especially in her adolescence when she is yet to discover herself. She also emphasized the need to involve all in the teaching process than to relegate it to only the girls.

Present were students from various schools in the Ashanti Region who put up splendid drama to enact what the book seeks to preach.

‘Abrefi’s Red Letter Day’ seeks to demystify menstruation which is considered a taboo in some cultures and empowers the girl-child to attain her potential.

The book was co-authored by four publishing students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi on internship at the Adwinsa Publications.

They are Leticia Amankwah, Victoria Adobea Mensah, Florence Newman and Patience Obeng-Manu, with Mrs. Alexandria O. Amponsah as consultant.
