Controversial hiplife musician and former member of defunct music group Nananom, Barima Sidney has urged Ghanaians not to classify award-winning musician and CEO of SarkCess Music, Michael Owusu Addo aka Sarkodie a part of the new generation of Ghanaian musicians.
Speaking in an interview on the successes of hiplife music since its birth in the early 90’s, the musician who is noted for his politically motivated songs stated that Ghanaian music has seen tremendous improvement especially over the past few years with the likes of Sarkodie crossing boarders for international collaborations something which rarely existed in their days.
Asked why he makes reference to Sarkodie, Sidney explained saying;
“Sarkodie and I go way back and I know how hard he has worked to get to the top. I therefore find it interesting when people describe him as a new kid on the block. He goes way back…….. One thing about him is that he never stops working and that’s the magic.”
He continued saying;
“The secret about this game is that if you are dedicated, definitely you will get your reward and that’s what he is enjoying now, perhaps the reason he is seen as new kid on the block. He continues to remain relevant and that’s the key.”
Sidney congratulated Sarkodie on his BET nomination and shared more insight on his upcoming album which is due in August.
The musician revealed the album will focus on other things that politics.
