CEO of Pidgin Music, Mr. Panji Anoff has described as “complete nonsense” recent tweets by Black Avenue Boss Desmond Blackmore that suggest he dumbed down his lyrics so he could reach the masses, climb the music charts and over all, make some money.

Responding to a question posed at him at the launch So Good Music at the Silver Lounge, Accra Mall on Saturday May 30 2015, the producer who handles artists such as Wanlov, Yaa Pono and many others stated the tweets were uncalled for and only suggested the artist himself was dumb.

“The masses are not dumb, the masses are smart so if ….. I don’t think the masses are any dumber than the non masses and I don’t think dumbing down your music…if you dumb down your music it means you yourself are dumb because the smartest thing is say something intelligent in a simple way. If I can say something very complicated in a few ways that way you will understand then that is wisdom…”

Prior to the release of D-Black’s cover to Drake’s Energy, he took to social media to address reasons why he stayed out of hiphop, a genre he is noted for.

He tweeted saying;

“Alot of peeps been talking bout I’ve digressed from hip-hop.. I’m not spitting bars.. I’ve switched up…the lyrics sound wack..

I gotta dumb it down 2 touch the masses.I gotta be on the charts wit the cats rapping in Twi, Ga, Pidgin, Ewe. I gotta have a nationwide hit.
