After virtually a month of intensive and all out promotion for “Kumasi Worships With Sonnie Badu”, the Golden Kingdom was made to experience the heavenly spirit in a night that will go down in history as one of the biggest Gospel musical concerts in Kumasi.
Billed to start at 6pm, the event commenced later than expected due to heavy downpour that got the crowd scattered and seeking cover at the available outlets. Perhaps Sonnie Badu’s song “Baba” was in effect just like it happened in Accra.
After hours of fervent prayers by fans and the prayer team of the artist, the Heavens finally obeyed as the rains seized for the production team to clear the stage and make way for the much awaited event. As the team worked on the stage, patrons who seemed a bit down were treated to a mini worship and praise session by Reverend Yawson and OK Fm presenter Abeiku Santana as they waited for the official “Kumasi Worships With Sonni Badu”.
At about 12am, it was time for a show down as both veteran and current artists rolled out exhilarating and top of the world performances back to back and got the crowd dancing and singing all through the drizzling and somehow cold atmosphere. These performers included Francis Amo, Enoch Arhin, OJ, SP Kofi Sarpong, Cwesi Oteng, Kojo Oteng, Victoria Sarfo, Dorcas Appiah, Tagoe Sisters, YABS and Rev. Yawson.
At the mention of Dr. Ron Kennoly as the next act by Abeiku Santana and Fiifi Forson, the entire stadium got fired up as they cheered in wait.
Dr. Ron Kennoly took the crowd along on a thirty minutes journey as he engaged them with his performance. He was then succeeded by the man of the night Sonnie Badu who thrilled the crowd with a great showmanship and worship. His stage act and coordination with the dancers was awesome; something many Ghanaian performers would love to have known. Sonnie Badu’s performance was enough to inspire anyone to worship God.
People from all walks of life including the aged, young, Christians and other religious affiliates were thrilled and expressed great satisfaction. Other celebrities present included Efya, Becca and Stacy Amoateng.
The event was put together by BrainHaus Media and Smartys Production and Management with sponsorship from First Allied Bank and Tigo.
