Songwriter and record producer Kuami Eugene has explained why he was hesitant to share the news of his exit from Lynx Entertainment.
According to him, it had gradually become a norm in Ghana for artists to share terrible experiences when they move out of a particular group, but his situation was different, and he wanted to focus on himself at the time.
In an interview with Doreen Avio, Kuami revealed that talks about his exit had long been discussed even before the release of Monica in 2023.
“I think I noticed one thing about when people leave record labels in this country: they spend so much time talking about, sorry to say, their bad experiences from where they came, than focusing on what they’re doing currently, and that’s something I didn’t want to be part of. While I was recording Monica and during the promotion of Monica, we were still in talks about my exit from Lynx Entertainment,” he said
He further expressed appreciation and gratitude to Lynx Entertainment for their impact on his musical journey.
“It has been a very long journey with Lynx Entertainment. They’ve played a very massive role in my life. I’ve learned so much from Richie Mensah, and I’m super glad that he gave me his blessings when it was time to go. He said, Eight years, Charlie, you almost hit a decade with us.”
“I’m still with Lynx, like I never left. I was at his book launch just two days ago, and it was fun. It was a blessing to see Richie, hug him like the father he’s been to me, and he was still cool. He texted me two days ago, thanking me for coming,” he stated
