Four Statements By Agradaa That Caused Gifty Adorye To Slap Her With A GHC 20 Million Defamatory Lawsuit

By now, you’ve read or heard reports that TV personality and gospel musician Empress Gifty Adorye has filed a defamatory lawsuit against a self-styled Reverend Minister Patricia Aseidua, aka Evangelist Mama Pat.

Among other reliefs sought by the plaintiff is GHC20 million in damages, which has since taken over the headlines, but have you wondered what exactly the defendant is alleged to have said, leading to the defamation lawsuit?

In the statement of claim, Empress Gifty Adorye (plaintiff) says that on 13th May 2025, the defendant, who seemed to have disagreed with her husband, took to her social media specifically (Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube) to attack the husband and further attacked her using defamatory language in the Twi language.

Statement 1

Twi: “Wo tuutuuni yere no mpo wo bu no, wo yere odwamanfoo no mpo wo bu no, nkraman ne wo yere da tafri wo yere tw* mu di sika br3 wo.”

English: You even respect your promiscuous wife; you respect even that wife of yours who is a prostitute. Your wife flirts with dogs; dogs lick your wife’s vagina. That is how she makes money to cater for you.

Statement 2

Twi: “Osofoo biara a, obeto nsa afro wo yere ako alter, ne no da wo office ansa na w’aba abeto dwom wo as3nka agua so.”

English: Pastors who invite your wife to sing have sexual intercourse with her in their offices before she mounts the pulpit to sing.

Statement 3

Twi: “Woyere no, )y3fo sene obiara, adwaman nti asofoo ne no de da. Wo agyae no, rebetaetae me.”

English: You left your cheap prostitute of a wife, who has sexual intercourse with pastors, to attack me.

Statement 4

Twi: “Wo nkwaseasem no a, wode ko wo yere kwasea no so no, me nnye toy te se wo yere no, me nnyi me hwene te se wo yere, Wo yere no a, ne tw* adane asafo) no bi chop bar bowl.”

English: I’m not a toy like your wife. I have not repositioned my nose like your wife. Do not extend the foolish things you do to her to me Your wife’s vagina has become a common eating bowl for some pastors.

According to Empress Gifty Ardoye, the statements have caused her serious damage in the face of right-thinking members of society, hence a defamatory lawsuit.

She’s also praying the court for an order for a perpetual injunction to restrain the defendant, her servants, assigns, agents, privies, or whosoever from publishing such or similar words.

As to whether or not these statements would qualify as defamatory, some elements would have to be proven in a competent court of jurisdiction.
