Ghanaian music star King Paluta has petitioned the board of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, demanding explanations as to why his hit single M’akoma did not make it to the nominees list of the 26th edition of the awards scheme.
In a letter dated March 18, 2025, the musician revealed that he submitted the said song for consideration for different categories, including Most Popular Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.
However, the song did not receive a single nomination.
Portions of the petition read,
“This concern has become necessary after the team realized none of the categories we submitted the said material for was considered after the official nominees announcement.
We believe in the competence of the TGMA board and trust that a convincing reason be issued to our team, music enthusiasts, and the general public on this unpopular decision of the board!”
Since the nominees list was revealed, rumours have suggested the board allegedly denied the song a nomination because it was explicit. However, the artist has shot down such rumours, saying the song “breaches no moral or ethical requirement.”
King Paluta is optimistic the board will carefully review its decision and consider M’akoma for possible nominations.
King Paluta secured several nominations in the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards, including the covetous Artist of the Year category.
