2024 Ghana Movie Awards: Nana Gyasi Owusu Wins Best Lead Actor

Nana Gyasi Owusu, famously known as NGO, has been awarded Best Lead Actor in a Drama or Comedy Series at the 2024 Ghana Movie Awards.

The win is his second, having previously taken home the Best Supporting Actor Award in 2019.

Known for his humility and talent, he dedicated his win to his crew and colleagues, saying, “Thank you to the guys at the backstage; you hold the piano so we can play it.”

NGO’s recognition reinforces his place as one of Ghana’s most talented and beloved entertainers.

NGO became a household name in 2017 with his breakout role in the hit TV show Kejetia vs Makola.

Over the years, he has proven his versatility with standout performances in films like Kudi, Hello (Love and Lockdown), and Pawn, with the latter earning 11 nominations at this year’s awards.

In addition to acting, NGO is a skilled MC and voice-over artist, lending his distinct voice to numerous commercials and documentaries. He also worked for years as a radio broadcaster at Luv FM in Kumasi, where his engaging personality and eloquence won him many fans.

NGO currently hosts the popular game show What Don’t You Know, where his wit and humour keep audiences entertained.

The 2024 Ghana Movie Awards was held on January 18, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
