Ghanaian highlife singer and songwriter, George Kwabena Adu, professionally known as Kwabena Kwabena has shared his battle with mental health, revealing that he could have experienced a similar breakdown to what fellow entertainer Funny Face is going through.
In a heartfelt disclosure during a discussion on Adom TV’s Showtym with Sallyman Frimpong, the Aso hitmaker admitted that the pressures of life nearly pushed him to the edge.
He emphasized that the pressures from his personal relationships and life’s challenges brought him to a breaking point.
“I wasn’t any far from what happened to my brother Funny Face,” Kwabena Kwabena disclosed, explaining how his emotional struggles mirrored those of the embattled comedian.
The celebrated crooner went on to share his empathy for Funny Face, whose battle with mental health has been publicly known saying; “Whenever I see the brother, I cry. Because when I close my eyes and reflect, I know… We should remember him in prayers.”
Kwabena Kwabena also reflected on how these experiences contributed to his personal growth. He explained that they helped him understand the importance of surrounding himself with the right people and valuing those who stood by him during tough times.
“There is always hope… I needed that experience for growth. It’s made me a better person and helped me realize who to connect with and appreciate those around me.”
Funny Face, a well-known Ghanaian comedian, has been battling mental health issues even after his discharge from a psychiatric facility. His struggles became public following a series of emotional breakdowns, largely stemming from personal difficulties, including a tumultuous separation from his wife.
