It seems the call for more Ghanaian content on Africa Magic is finally been listened to by the powers as M-Net has unveiled new plans for the country and the continent at large.
Speaking at an M-Net Press Conference held in Mauritius during the Multi Choice Africa Content Showcase, M-Net Regional Director West Africa, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu announced that Africa Magic will from October 1 roll out a 4 hour block which is solely dedicated to showcasing unadulterated Ghanaian content.
The four hour block according to her would cover all exciting quality content that is available to the channel although they will be commissioning other projects with movie directors and producers from the channel.
It must be emphasized that, there has been a huge uproar on the dominance of Nigerian content on African Magic, an outcry that necessitated the creation of Zambezi Magic which caters for Southern African (created just two months ago) and Maisha Magic Bongo (launches on Thursday October 1) which will cater for Tanzania.
If the four hour block is rolled out, Ghanaians must be ready to be bombarded with a lot of glamour movies than the typical Kumawood films as much is not known about them.
Answering questions as to whether such movies produced from the region will feature on the platform, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu disclosed she was not aware of such movies.
“We had a stakeholder conference in Ghana to find out more about movies and content and we never heard about this, it is news to me but I’m sure we can talk further about this and see the possible way forward”, she said.
