It’s that time of the year when artists and their managements go all out explaining why they best fit a particular category for the prestigious 3Music Awards.
Following the release of nominees for the 5th edition of the awards scheme last night (Feb. 11, 2022), social media has been awash with commentaries and entertainment radio shows are no exception.
However, Gospel artist Celestine Donkor who seems unenthused about an alleged comment passed by Peace FM’s Entertainment Review host Kwesi Aboagye has taken to social media to react.
In a post shared on Instagram and sighted by Ghana’s Hub For Pop Culture & Urban Entertainment News – www. nydjlive.com, Celestine Donkor, who grabbed a nomination in the Artist of The Year category commiserated with the radio show host Akwasi Aboagye whose preferred artist she believes didn’t grab a nomination.
She also revealed she was willing to give off her slot to the presenter’s choice of artiste. She wrote;
“Please I am sorry that your preference didn’t make it on the list. However, be rest assured that I am willing to give my slot to her.”
The Only You hitmaker called on colleagues not to be divided by award schemes and assured fans that the needless comparison will not bring any enmity between herself and Gifty Osei.
“I also want to assure my Noko foine colleague here, my fans and all Gospel music lovers out there that THIS RATHER UNFORTUNATE NEEDLESS COMPARISON will not bring any enmity between us at all.
To my fellow gospel musicians, let’s beware of such comments on the media space which has the tendency of bringing division, cliches, isolation etc within the gospel industry. AT THE END OF THE DAY, THEY WILL TURN BACK AND SAY WE ARE NOT UNITED. GOD BLESS U ALL,” she wrote.
