2024 MTV EMA: Tyla Grabs 2 Awards Including Best R&B | Complete List Of Winners
South African music star Tyla continues her winning streak. She beat fellow musicians from the motherland (Africa) to win the covetous Best African Act award at the 2024 MTV EMA.
Tyla beat Asake Nigeria’s Asake and Ayra Starr, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz and fellow countrymen DBN Gogo and TitoM & Yuppe.
Tyla also grabbed the Best R&B beating Kehlani, SZA, Tinashe, Usher, and Victoria Monét.
Tyla has had an impressive run with her music following the release of her global smash hit Water and an album Tyla.
Some of her awards include the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance (2024), the MTV Video Music Award for Best Afrobeats (2024), the BET Award for Best New Artist (2024), and the BET Award for Best International Act (2024).
South Africa’s Tyla and Nigeria’s Ayra Starr led the African continent, each securing four nominations in major categories. Both artists were nominated for “Best New,” “Best Afrobeats,” “Best African Act,” and additional individual categories. This recognition underscores their incredible achievements and the global rise of Afrobeats and African music.
