16 Schools To Compete In 2021 Luv FM High School Debate

The third edition of the most educative and entertaining high school event of the year, the Luv FM High School Debate has been launched.

The event which took place at the Live Event Centre at the Kumasi City Mall on Friday, May 21, 2021, saw in attendance highly respected educationist and Ambassador the Luv FM High School Debate, Mrs Theodora Jackson, Dr Peter Athur (Snr Lecturer, Dept. of English, KNUST), Mr Isaac Antwi (Sales & Marketing Manager MMGL), Mr Mark Ofori (PRO for Ghana Education Service), Mr Benjamin Kyei Ampadu (Representing CHASS), students and teachers from the competing schools and many others.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Isaac Antwi (Sales & Marketing Manager MMGL) who spoke on behalf of the organizers stated saying;

“When as a radio station, we set out to provide our young students with the voice in the national discourse, we had the goal of inculcating in them the skill and the skills of research, public speaking, listening among others. We are proud to say the Luv FM High School Debate has lived up to that goal…We surely look forward to an exciting battle of wits and talents in the round of 16. Let me assure all participating schools and contestants that very handsome prizes await you which will be announced in the coming days.”

Unlike the first two editions, the 2021 Luv FM High School Debate will see 16 schools compete for glory. The schools include 12 which made it through the preliminaries out of 80 schools and four semi-finalists from the previous year.

The President of the Ashanti Regional Students’ Representative Council (ARSRC), Ms Tracy Asamoah expressed excitement at the new format which enlists interested schools in the competition.

The schools include Ghana Muslim Mission, Yaa Asantewaa Girls, Prempeh College, Adventist Girls Snr High, St. Monicas, Opoku Ware SHS, KNUST Snr High, Afia Kobi, Kumasi Anglican Snr High, T. I. Ahmadiyya – Kumasi, Fomena AMASS, St. Hubert, Presby Snr High – Bompata, Tepa Snr High and St. Jerome SHS.

The sponsors for this year’s Luv FM High School Debate include Jackson Institute of Innovation and Leadership, 3x Energy Drink, Welbeck Cleaning Services and many others.

The Luv FM High School Debate is in partnership with The Ghana Education Service (GES), The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), Ashanti Regional Students’ Representative Council and the Writers and Debaters Society.
